When the ball is near the green but not on it, the club usually used is the nine-iron.

The ideal chip for this distance is when the ball will fly about 1/3 of the way.

And as for the rest of the way, it will roll toward the hole.

The strategy for this kind of shot is with a good stance and with your hands ahead of the ball and the club face square.

The next golf chipping tip would be in the soft shot. When you play a soft shot, it allows the ball to be hit farther and so hopefully roll into the cup.

To have an excellent soft shot, use the lob wedge or the sand wedge. This should help you get a good shot that will help improve your game.

In a soft shot, the club face should be open a bit. Always remember to put your hands behind the ball when you swing.

As always, you should position your hands ahead of the club and the club face should be square.

Now you do not have to worry about the ball going past the hole especially when there is a sand trap or a pond near the hole.
